Wisdom Teeth Extractions Woodbridge

Wisdom teeth comprise the third set of molars in the rear of our mouth, and are the final set of teeth to grow in during the early stages of adulthood. In the majority of people, however, these sets of teeth tend to cause problems.

Wisdom Teeth can cause crowding, grow in misaligned or may be "impacted" because they have not fully broken through the gum line. Even if you do not experience any pain, a dental visit is recommended so your dentist can examine your teeth and foresee any problems in the future, and will discuss your oral health with you in depth.

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Wisdom teeth may not grow in properly, or only partially, and may need removal before triggering infection or further problems.

If you experience any of the following, it is a sign that wisdom teeth need removal:

  • Pain
  • Repeated infections
  • Damage to surrounding teeth
  • Pain
  • Gum disease
  • Excessive tooth decay

Wisdom teeth may not need removal if they are:

  • Healthy
  • Grown in completely
  • Positioned properly and biting properly with opposite teeth
  • Able to be properly cleaned on a daily basis

A highly experienced dentist from Woodbridge Dental will carefully examine your wisdom teeth and make recommendations based on their appearance. The decision to remove wisdom teeth is not always straightforward. Our dental experts will discuss the wisdom teeth extraction procedure with you including pre and post-operative care, so you are fully informed when making your decision.

Post-operative care will include important information covering:

  • Activity level
  • Food and beverage intake
  • Pain management
  • Concerns around bleeding
  • Symptoms including swelling and bruising
  • How to clean your mouth
  • Tobacco use
  • Care for stitches
